Due to the fruitful efforts of lots of scientists generations of DonNUET, the largest regional scientific potential in the field of economics, trade and food technologies has been created. The researches of scientific schools on the theory of market, economics and trade finance, accounting, analysis and audit, marketing and commercial activity, marketing management, foodstuff equipment, commodity research and expertise became internationally recognised.

For the last four years the University has been recognised by the Ministry of Education and Science, Youth and Sport of Ukraine as the best one among economic universities on scientific activity.
Significant attention is paid by the University to student scientific activities.
DonNUET students take part in different contests and festivals, diploma projects and scientific papers competitions.
The most talented students get scholarships of the President of Ukraine, regional and city administrations, various funds.
Scientists training is provided at the Doctor´s degree courses on 4 specialities and post-graduate courses on 12 specialities. The defence of dissertations on 6 specialities  is carried out  in 2 specialized academic councils.
For the period of its work the post-graduate unit has trained 47 Doctors of Science and more than 400 dissertations were defended.
The University publishes collection of scientific papers and journals, such as «Trade and Market of Ukraine», «Foodstuff Equipment and Technologies», «Intellect.Personality.Civilization», «Vestnik DonNUET». They are registered in the list of scientific publications approved by the Higher Certification Board and may publish the dissertations findings.
The University scholars work as experts in the Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada Committees, Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, Ministry of Economy, Higer Certification Board.They take an active part in development of economic laws adopted by the Verkhovna Rada. They have made significant contribution into the National Trade Concept development and Donetsk region Scientific and Technical Programme development up to 2020.
